Women have always impacted the tech world from the very beginning of the evolution of tech. The first programmer was a woman but now, Tech is seen as a predominantly male thing. Last year, we had a great experience! This year we will inspire, educate and motivate women, building tech icons for the future and inculcating the VALUE of women in tech and the world at large. We present a programme which creates a trusted support network among women in the tech startup ecosystem with an interest in startups. It is designed to empower, educate and promote women who could be students, entrepreneurs or even investors, regardless of their age, education or socioeconomic background.

Nigeria is projected to be the world’s fastest growing Entertainment and Media (E&M) market, with a cumulative annual growth rate of 12.1%. This is according to PwC’s Global entertainment and media outlook 2017 -2021. Nigeria’s E&M revenue rose to $3.8 billion, and 83% of this was as a result of tech. These figures show great potentials, and the meetup aims to bring together people from E&M, and the startup community, to discuss ideas and tech solutions that could unlock the economic VALUE of E&M in Port Harcourt and beyond.
Nigeria’s Digital Economy is growing rapidly and is expected to generate $88 billion by 2021 according to the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment. The financial and telecommunications sectors have and will continue to play huge roles in providing the needed infrastructure. However, the Digital Economy sector will rely alot on the nation’s human capital especially the youth population, for the right ideas to drive it to its potential. Rivers State alone has a youth population of over 2.8 million. With the right thinking and focus it could boost its demographic dividend, unlock its economic VALUE and grow a thriving tech ecosystem.
This conference aims to ReValuate our approach to the Digital Economy by focusing on the things that bring real VALUE.
- What should Startups focus on?
- What should Tech Talents focus on?
- What should be the perception of the University?
- What should Investors focus on?
- What should Government focus on?
- What should Innovation Hubs focus on?
- What should Meetups focus on?
- How should products be packaged?
- What should be the perception of the Millennial?
- What is the Role of the Diaspora?
- What should be the perception of the Expat?
- What should be our attitude to Live Work & Play?
These questions will guide our conversations at the conference, generating meaningful discussions that would bring about a paradigm shift amongst the players in the Digital Economy.
An Angel Investor is to Startups, what a Funder is to Research. Without them, the world is denied breakthrough innovations. They VALUE long term success over immediate return on investment. They share in the passion of the Founders, and are committed to seeing the dream materialize. They understand the process and when they play by the rules, the journey may be uncertain but the reward is high. This meetup is for current and aspiring investors, interested in learning, networking and exploring the prospects of investing in innovative Startups and the next Generation Corporations.
This is a paid event. If you are interested in attending, please send a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
